Kingspan Thermataper TT46 LPC/FM high performance rigid urethane insulation was the product of choice for the £3 million redevelopment of 26 The Martlets, an old C&A clothing store in Crawley.
Commissioned by Redevco UK Ltd, the architects Corstorphine + Wright have successfully transformed the redundant store into 6 new retail units and replaced the original 1970s façade with a modern aesthetic appearance.
The 6 retail units have become home to Carphone Warehouse, JJB Sports, Lush, Pumpkin Patch, Republic and Schuh providing shoppers with a wide range of products close to home.
A total of 1,300m2 of Kingspan Thermataper TT46 LPC/FM was specified by the project architects to provide a durable, lightweight and thermally efficient roofing insulation solution whilst dealing with the problems associated with flat roofs.
Designed for use under PVC single-ply mechanically fixed roofing systems, the Kingspan Thermataper TT46 LPC/FM ensures low heat loss through the roof, as well as preventing the build-up of rainwater, which can seriously decrease the life of a flat roof by subjecting the membrane to thermal stress, alkali formation and mould growth.
If correctly applied Kingspan Thermataper TT46 LPC/FM has an indefinite life. It is lightweight and easy to install, resistant to water vapour, and unaffected by compression inflicted in the course of normal maintenance. With a thermal conductivity as low as 0.022 W/m.K, the boards can easily achieve the U-values required for compliance with Building Regulations.
The Kingspan Thermataper range has been designed to prevent the formation of water ponds (the most common cause of failure of flat roofs) by providing effective roof falls for both new and existing flat roofs. Each solution in the range has been specifically developed for use beneath a particular waterproofing membrane.
